In Coachella, on Thursday evening, a suspect was taken into custody after a pursuit that led to a brief standoff. The incident began at 5:05 PM when deputies tried to pull over a vehicle for a traffic violation at Avenue 51 and Cesar Chavez Street, as reported by Sergeant Deirdre Vickers of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.

The vehicle did not stop and a pursuit ensued. The suspect eventually stopped the vehicle in the area of 7th Street and Grapefruit Boulevard, fleeing on foot and entering a nearby business. Law enforcement officers surrounded the business and were able to peacefully negotiate the suspect’s surrender.

The suspect was then arrested without any further issues. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and updates will be provided by News Channel 3 as they become available.
