Co-op, a UK retailer, has announced a new partnership with Walmart to enhance its customer experience and capture more than one-third of the quick commerce market. This move involves implementing the Store Assist online fulfilment technology from the US retail giant. The app allows retailers to manage various types of orders in one place, including pickup, third-party marketplace, ship-from-store, and last-mile delivery orders.

George Hayworth, Co-op’s head of online development, explained that this partnership is part of their focus on growing their share of the quick commerce market through their online shop and strategic partnerships. He emphasized the importance of ease, speed, and convenience for customers as they aim to provide a quick and reliable service for their member-owners and customers. By working closely with Walmart Commerce Technologies to implement this new technology, Co-op aims to support its continued growth and meet the needs of its customers.

As a result of this expansion in reach and accessibility, Co-op now estimates that over 80% of the UK population has access to its groceries either through its own online shop or via partners like Just Eat, Uber Eats, and Deliveroo. This demonstrates Co-op’s commitment to providing convenient shopping options for customers no matter when or where they choose to shop.
