The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) was created over a decade ago with significant funding and authority, but despite its efforts, it has yet to demonstrate successful outcomes in transitioning to value-based care. House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) and Subcommittee on Health Chair Brett Guthrie (R-KY) have announced a subcommittee hearing titled “Checking-In on CMMI: Assessing the Transition to Value-Based Care” to evaluate the progress of CMMI in achieving its mission.

The hearing will provide Members of Congress with the opportunity to hear from Elizabeth Fowler, Ph.D, J.D, Deputy Administrator and Director of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, about the challenges she faces in achieving her mission. The purpose of the hearing is to assess whether Congress needs to intervene to provide clearer direction.

The Subcommittee on Health hearing titled “Checking-In on CMMI: Assessing the Transition to Value-Based Care” is scheduled for Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 10:00 AM ET in the 2123 Rayburn House Office Building. The witness for the hearing will be Elizabeth Fowler, Ph.D., J.D., Deputy Administrator and Director of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
