Citroën has announced a recall for several of its C3 and DS3 model vehicles due to potential risks caused by a failure in the airbag system. The manufacturer stated that the propellant in the driver and passenger airbags could deteriorate over time, leading to a rupture with excessive force during deployment in an accident.

The affected vehicles were produced between 2009 and 2017 for the Citroën C3 and between 2009 and 2019 for the DS3. This issue was initially observed in regions with hot and humid climates, prompting a recall in overseas territories between 2020 and 2021.
