Chinese President Xi Jinping recently met with representatives of Arab countries and expressed support for the peace efforts in the Gaza Strip. He called for a larger international peace conference and emphasized China’s support for full UN membership for Palestine. During the meeting, Xi announced that China would donate $3 million to UNRWA for post-war reconstruction in Gaza.

Despite taking a neutral stance in the current conflict, China has called for negotiations on a ceasefire. The Chinese government has a history of good relations with the Arab world and has been investing in various projects in the region through its Belt and Road Initiative. During the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum, leaders from Bahrain, Egypt, Tunisia, and the UAE discussed potential areas of cooperation, including green technologies and artificial intelligence.

Xi’s message emphasized the need for peace and stability in the region, and China’s willingness to support efforts to achieve that goal. As a major player in the international community, China’s involvement could have a significant impact on the situation in the Gaza Strip and the broader Middle East.
