Beijing hosted scientists from around the world to study samples of rocks and dust from the dark side of the Moon brought back by China’s Chang’e-6 mission. The Chinese space officials emphasized the importance of international cooperation in space exploration, while highlighting obstacles hindering collaboration between nations, particularly the United States.

The deputy administrator of CNSA, Bian Zhigang, stressed that removing barriers to cooperation is essential to facilitate normal space exchanges between China and other countries. Despite US law slowing down cooperation, it can’t hinder China’s rapid development in space, which has achieved significant milestones through its own efforts and expertise.

The Chang’e-6 mission landed on Earth successfully, making China the first country to do so. The mission aimed to study the geological structure, material composition, and early cosmic environment of the Moon’s far side, which are full of mysteries. International scientists have been invited to participate in research collaborations with countries such as Pakistan, France, Italy, and ESA on scientific payloads.

Future missions like Chang’e-7 and Chang’e-8 are planned to study resources at the south pole of the Moon. International cooperation is a critical aspect of these missions, with several countries expressing interest in participating. China also plans to build an international lunar research base and has signed cooperation agreements with over 10 countries for this project.

Overall, China’s achievements in space exploration demonstrate its commitment to international cooperation and scientific advancement. The country is open to collaborating with other nations in exploring the mysteries of the universe and expanding our knowledge of outer space.
