Nanchong City, in southwest China’s Sichuan Province, has seen significant progress in the agricultural industry with the completion of a national-level project jointly carried out by China and France. The China-France Agricultural Science and Technology Park in Gaoping district has been actively harvesting cherry tomatoes using an intelligent greenhouse that exemplifies cutting-edge technology.

Construction of the park began in February 2017, and currently, an area of 12,000 mu has been completed. This project serves as a showcase for agricultural technologies and expertise from both countries. The intelligent greenhouse within the park is a flagship project for agricultural technology collaboration between the two nations. With an investment of 100 million yuan ($13.78 million), this digital environment occupies 30 mu of land and manages and controls cherry tomato growth throughout their lifecycle, resulting in impressive yields and efficiencies.

The core equipment and essential supplies for the greenhouse are imported directly from France, highlighting the collaborative efforts between the two countries in this field. Jiang Min, the site manager of the park’s intelligent greenhouse, spoke about the success of this project, stating that it highlights advancements in agricultural technology and emphasizes the importance of collaboration between nations to achieve sustainable agriculture practices.
