On Wednesday evening, a young girl was rescued by police in Colorado Springs after her father held her hostage inside a smoke shop. The child’s mother called 911 from the Heady Hittaz Headshop off Fillmore and Pennsylvania, reporting that her boyfriend was threatening to harm himself while holding their daughter inside the building.

The mother stated that her boyfriend had a handgun and was making threats of self-harm in the presence of her and the child. In response, a crisis entry team consisting of Springs police, UCCS police, and K-9s was formed to address the situation. Entry was successfully obtained into the business, and the 8-year-old girl was safely removed. Two adult males were detained without further incident, and a semi-automatic handgun was recovered at the scene.

Fortunately, no injuries to the child were reported. The swift action of law enforcement ensured the safety of the child in this dangerous situation. This event serves as a reminder of how important it is for parents to take precautions when they are in potentially dangerous situations with their children. Copyright 2024 KKTV. All rights reserved.
