The Chiefs have officially re-signed defensive lineman Malik Herring, solidifying his return to the team for the upcoming season. Herring joined the Chiefs in 2021 after going undrafted and quickly made an impact, playing in a total of 14 games between the regular season and playoffs. He contributed significantly to the team’s Super Bowl LVIII win, showcasing his skills with 20 tackles, 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery across all appearances.

Herring’s status with the Chiefs was secure after they tendered him as an exclusive rights free agent earlier in the offseason, preventing him from negotiating with other teams. However, it was not until Thursday that the NFL’s daily transaction report confirmed his formal return to the roster.

His performance and reliability on the field have solidified his place on the team, making his re-signing a positive and expected move by the Chiefs organization. With Herring back in the lineup, the Chiefs’ defense looks poised to continue its success in the upcoming season.
