Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman BJ Thompson was rushed to the hospital after experiencing a seizure and cardiac arrest during a team meeting. At just 25 years old, Thompson had been part of the team for only a season as a fifth-round draft pick. However, he had played in one game for the Super Bowl champions in the previous year.

The Chiefs’ vice president of sports medicine and performance, Rick Burkholder, provided an update on Thompson’s condition, stating that he is moving in the right direction. Burkholder commended the players, security staff, coaches, and other staff members for their quick and effective response to the crisis.

The team decided to cancel a scheduled practice session following the incident, and head coach Andy Reid and players postponed media sessions until Friday. It seems that Thompson is on the road to recovery and receiving necessary support from his team and medical professionals. The Chiefs are currently in the off-season training program and set to begin a mandatory mini-camp on Tuesday.
