The Kansas City Chiefs have announced the release of defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs, who has been facing multiple off-field issues this year. According to a report by Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Buggs was informed of the decision to cut him from the team. Buggs, 27 years old, was a sixth-round draft pick of the Steelers in 2019 and has also played for the Raiders and Lions.
In recent months, Buggs has been charged with second-degree domestic violence and second-degree burglary for allegedly breaking into the apartment of his child’s mother and dragging her down the stairs. He was also arrested on an animal cruelty charge just weeks prior. These offenses have led to his release from the Chiefs, as well as concerns about his ability to find employment with another team due to the possibility of an NFL suspension or placement on the commissioner’s exempt list.
