Yelp released its list of the “Top 100 Local Businesses in the U.S.” on Wednesday, to kick off Small Business Month. The list showcased diverse and thriving businesses from various categories across the country.
Four Chicago-based businesses made it onto the list, including Windy City Wedding Dance in the fitness and exercise category, Rogers Park Provisions under home decor, Play for kids, and Chicago Pet Sitters for pet care.
Yelp used a combination of review volume and ratings to rank businesses in each category, with a limit of three locations per business. Only one business per state was allowed in the top 10 of each category, with sit-down restaurants not making the list.
The categories included in the list were extensive, ranging from automotive and beauty to books, food and fashion. This diversity reflects the vibrant communities across the United States.
