In her final season as head coach, Emma Hayes led Chelsea Women to the league championship. However, despite their success in the league, they fell short of winning all four trophies they were vying for. After 12 years at the club, Hayes made a memorable farewell at Old Trafford. Bompastor, who was previously at Lyon for three seasons, has signed a four-year deal with Chelsea and will begin her new role on July 1st. During her time at Lyon, Bompastor led them to the Women’s Champions League final and won three consecutive league titles. The French international retired from playing in 2013 after representing her country 156 times.

In an interview, Bompastor expressed her gratitude for joining Chelsea and is eager to start this new project. She hopes to continue the work that has been done in recent years and live up to Emma Hayes’ legacy. Chelsea’s general manager, Paul Green, praised Bompastor’s coaching philosophy and winning mentality, stating that she was the outstanding candidate for the job.
