Belgian international Romelu Lukaku, aged 31, is being pursued by Napoli as their top summer target to replace Victor Osimhen. Despite having a buyout clause of €43M at Chelsea, Napoli is reportedly willing to negotiate with Chelsea for a lower fee. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Napoli may offer up to €25M for Lukaku and it’s suggested that the player himself might need to push for the move to happen.
Lukaku is set to lead Belgium’s attack at the European Championships and is under contract with Chelsea until 2026. Last season, he spent on loan at Roma where he scored 13 goals in 32 Serie A appearances. Antonio Conte and Lukaku have a strong working relationship from their time together at Inter where they won the Serie A title in 2021. Lukaku has expressed interest in reuniting with Conte as Napoli seeks to strengthen their squad after a disappointing season in Serie A.
