Chelsea is on the verge of signing Aston Villa’s attacking midfielder, Omari Kellyman, in a deal worth £19m. The transfer is currently underway with negotiations ongoing for a five or six-year contract. Kellyman, who is just 18 years old, is expected to become a key player in Enzo Maresca’s first team squad at Chelsea. He has already made six first-team appearances at Villa Park and is an England Under-19 international.

In addition to the potential transfer of Kellyman, Villa has agreed to purchase defender Ian Maatsen from Chelsea for £37.5m this week. Both clubs are mindful of the Premier League profit and sustainability regulations, especially with the looming 30 June accounting deadline. The deal for Maatsen is separate from Kellyman’s transfer, with the young defender set to move to the West Midlands.

Kellyman initially joined Aston Villa from Derby County for a reported fee of £600,000 in July 2022. He signed his first professional contract with Villa in September of the same year. The midfielder’s progress and potential have caught the attention of Chelsea, who are now on the brink of securing his services for a significant sum.
