Crawley Town has officially signed 21-year-old center-back Charlie Barker from Wealdstone for an undisclosed fee. Barker, the son of former Crawley Town manager Richie Barker, has agreed to a three-year contract with the Red Devils.

Charlie Barker started his career at Charlton’s academy and had made 11 appearances for the Addicks, including three starts in League One at just 17 years old. After leaving Charlton a year ago, Barker went on to play 43 National League games for Wealdstone last season, where he initially joined on loan in October 2022.

Upon joining Crawley Town, Barker expressed his excitement about the move, stating that he was eager to join the club when he heard they were interested in him. He also mentioned his connections with some of the players at Crawley who had only positive things to say about the club.

Barker’s signing represents a new chapter in his career as he follows his father’s footsteps in joining Crawley Town. With his experience at Charlton and Wealdstone, Barker will be looking to make a significant impact at Crawley and contribute to the team’s success in the upcoming seasons.
