The Chargers bid farewell to two veteran receivers, Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, during this offseason. Among the remaining receivers, Joshua Palmer has been with the team since 2021 and developed close relationships with Allen and Williams. In a recent interview with Eric Smith of the team’s website, Palmer expressed that their absence was a noticeable change in the locker room.

Although he feels sad about their departure, Palmer recognizes that decisions like these are part of the business. As one of the older players in the Chargers’ receivers room alongside free-agent signee DJ Chark, Palmer is focused on moving forward and embracing his role on the team. Despite not viewing himself as a leader, Palmer believes that the group is coming together and forming a cohesive unit.

With a mix of new personalities and players, Palmer mentioned that most of the team is new and that they are all in the process of getting to know each other. Alongside Chark, the Chargers will likely look to 2023 first-round pick Quentin Johnston and second-round rookie Ladd McConkey to step up as primary pass-catchers for quarterback Justin Herbert in the upcoming season.
