Following their triumph in the T20 World Cup, the Indian cricket team was greeted with a warm welcome upon arrival in New Delhi early on Thursday morning. The squad has a packed schedule ahead, including meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and a felicitation ceremony at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. In preparation for their arrival, traffic police in Mumbai have put restrictions in place to ensure smooth movement.

Despite a hurricane in Barbados causing delays, Team India was eventually flown out to New Delhi on an arranged charter flight. Dubbed Air India Champions 24 World Cup, the flight flew for 16 hours non-stop and landed in Delhi at 6 am IST on Thursday. Fans who gathered at the airport in New Delhi celebrated the team’s victory over South Africa with placards and national flags.

After a reception with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi, the team will make their way to Mumbai for an open-top bus parade with the trophy. Two buses were waiting outside Terminal T3 to transport the players to their hotel before heading to the Prime Minister’s residence for a reception.
