Dubbed Air India Champions 24 World Cup, the flight flew for 16 hours non-stop and landed in Delhi at 6 am IST on Thursday. Fans who gathered at the airport in New Delhi celebrated the team’s victory over South Africa with placards and national flags.
After a reception with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi, the team will make their way to Mumbai for an open-top bus parade with the trophy. Two buses were waiting outside Terminal T3 to transport the players to their hotel before heading to the Prime Minister’s residence for a reception.
