Jiri Prochazka has challenged light-heavyweight champion Alex Pereira to a fight without spiritual assistance, accusing him of using “rituals” to win his bouts. Prochazka claims that Pereira cannot fight without these external influences and is seeking revenge for his defeat in November where he was stopped in the second round.

During a pre-fight news conference ahead of UFC 303 in Las Vegas, Prochazka raised eyebrows with his comments about Pereira, suggesting that the Brazilian is aided by “magic and shamans.” He proposed that their upcoming fight be a test of pure performance, without any external influences. Prochazka emphasized the importance of determining who the best in the world truly is through their skills alone.

In response, Pereira remained composed, acknowledging that everyone has their own beliefs and sources of strength. He simply stated that he has found his own, and if Prochazka has not found his own belief or spirits, it is not his fault. Pereira, who will be defending his title for the second time, expressed his readiness for the challenge ahead.

The fight between Pereira and Prochazka was elevated to the headline position at UFC 303 after Conor McGregor withdrew due to a broken toe, replacing the highly-anticipated match-up. This will be the second time in three months that Pereira has headlined a significant event, following his victory over Jamahal Hill at UFC 300 in April.
