Chalfont pizzeria owner Anna Maria Tolomello pleaded guilty to killing her business partner and common law partner, Giovanni Gallina. The two had run a successful pizza shop together for years before Gallina’s sudden death in March 2022.
Tolomello initially claimed self-defense, but on the day of trial, she changed her plea to third-degree murder charges. Bucks County assistant district attorney Christopher Rees argued that the autopsy results showed Gallina was shot in the back of the head. Tolomello also admitted to disposing of evidence, including a bloody mattress and bullet shell casings.
Initially facing charges including murder, possessing an instrument of a crime, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with evidence, Tolomello accepted the terms of her guilty plea. She will now face a prison sentence of 18 to 40 years. The sentencing has been deferred for 60 days.
