The Boston Celtics are currently focused on the 2024 NBA Finals as they aim to secure their 18th championship. However, they are also preparing for the upcoming offseason, including the 2024 NBA Draft where they still hold their first-round pick.

Recently, the Celtics held pre-draft workouts with four prospects over the weekend in order to prepare for the draft. According to reports from longtime NBA reporter Adam Zagoria, the prospects who participated in the workout included Ryan Dunn from Virginia, Justin Edwards from Kentucky, Enrique Freeman from Akron, and Judah Mintz from Syracuse. Dunn and Edwards are both considered first-round caliber prospects, while Freeman and Mintz are projected to be second-round picks.

As teams like the Celtics look ahead to next season, they will need to find cost-effective and talented young players to complement their veteran core due to luxury tax penalties and restrictions in the current collective bargaining agreement. The draft is seen as an important avenue for teams to find such players.

In recent years, the Celtics have found success in the later stages of the first round by selecting players like Robert Williams III, Grant Williams, and Payton Pritchard. With this year’s draft scheduled for June 26 at the Barclays Center, they will be looking to add more young talent to their roster for future success.
