The Boston Celtics have just celebrated their 18th championship and now, President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens is gearing up for the NBA Draft. With the 30th and 54th overall picks, Stevens is preparing to potentially make his first-round selection since taking over as general manager.

During a press conference on Tuesday, Stevens mentioned that if the right player is available at the 30th pick, they will take them. He is looking to invest in young players who have the potential to crack the Celtics’ rotation. However, being a second apron team presents challenges for the Celtics when it comes to making trades. Despite this, they are prepared to use their draft picks to bring in new talent, even though it may be difficult for those selected to make the roster.

With most of last year’s championship squad returning, the Celtics are focused on building for the future while maintaining the current roster. Only a few players such as Oshae Brissett, Luke Kornet and Xavier Tillman are set to test free agency.

The 2024 NBA Draft will take place on Wednesday at 8 p.m ET and the Celtics will look to add young talent to their roster. Stevens’ full press conference can be watched on YouTube for more details on how the team is approaching
