On Thursday, New York City came alive with the spirit of yoga as ‘Solstice at Times Square’ showcased the widespread enthusiasm for this ancient practice. Thousands of people from different nationalities gathered at the iconic Times Square to participate in a day-long celebration of Yoga, organized by the Consulate General of India in New York and Times Square Alliance.

The event featured seven yoga sessions, led by experienced instructors, that attracted about 10,000 participants. The Consul General of India in New York, Binaya Pradhan, addressed the crowd and highlighted the numerous benefits of Yoga for physical health and spiritual well-being, as well as its role in promoting harmony with nature.

“Today we are celebrating International Day of Yoga at the Times Square along with our RR partner which is Times Square Alliance,” said Binaya Pradhan. “As you can see, we have yoga participants from several nationalities, and this is going to go on for the entire day today. We are expecting about 8,000 to 10,000 participants who do yoga today along with us.”

The theme of this year’s Yoga Day was ‘Yoga for Self and Society’, which inspired everyone present to embrace this ancient practice not only for personal growth but also for creating a better world around them. As people practiced their poses amidst the hustle and bustle of Times Square, it was clear that Yoga had transcended cultural boundaries and had become a universal language that brings people together.
