The ‘As One Foundation’ is partnering with the Sickle Cell Community Consortium and the Black Heritage Society to host an event in Houston that aims to raise awareness about sickle cell disease and its impact on the community. The Sickle Cell Therapeutics Summit and Health Fair will take place on Saturday, June 15 at the Fifth Ward Multi-Service Center.

The chosen date and location of the event are significant, as both Juneteenth and World Sickle Cell Day fall on June 19 each year, focusing on the Black community. This year’s summit will have a Juneteenth Jubilee Booth Expo atmosphere, with free food, door prizes, and a kid zone for attendees. Educational sessions about Sickle Cell Therapeutics will be highlighted during the event, offering important information and resources for those affected by the disease or trait.

The event is free and open to the community, especially individuals living with sickle cell disease or caring for someone with the condition. It aims to provide support and education for those impacted by the disease. By bringing awareness to Sickle Cell on this important day of celebration and remembrance, the organizers hope to make a positive impact in the community.
