On Saturday, June 15, the Cox Science Center & Aquarium will be hosting a special event called Hometown Hero Appreciation Day to recognize and honor local heroes. The event is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and veterans, active-duty military, first responders, Gold Star families, and up to four guests can receive free admission an hour before the general public arrives.

Science Center President & CEO Kate Arrizza, who is a former Navy officer, understands the sacrifices made by military and first responders. She expressed her gratitude for their service and looks forward to providing them with a day of recognition and fun.

The event will feature various activities throughout the day, including military vehicle demonstrations, meet-and-greets with armed forces representatives, live science demonstrations, military ceremonies, and tug-of-war competitions with the troops. Snacks and refreshments will also be available for everyone to enjoy. To redeem tickets, individuals can register online at www.coxsciencecenter.org/heroes and present a military or employee ID.

General admission prices for the event are $24 for adults, $20 for children ages 3-12, $22 for seniors ages 60 & older, and free for children under 3 years of age and members.
