The Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce recently celebrated the 2024 Minority Business Opportunity Awards by honoring five outstanding businesses. The ceremony took place at Sam’s Town Casino & Hotel on June 13.

The winners included Chauncy Horton of SNA Contracting LLC, who was named Small Business Owner of the Year for his family-owned general contracting business in Shreveport. Golden A. Ellis of Rhodes Realty LLC received the Top Business Professional of the Year award.

Andrea McKnight, the development director of David Raines Community Health Centers, was recognized as the Nonprofit Professional of the Year. The Emerging Business of the Year honor was awarded to Kids College STEAM Early Learning Center, owned by Dr. Katraya Williams and Benji Williams. In addition to these new businesses, Yokem Toyota was named the 2024 Business of the Year for its long-standing presence in the local community for over 50 years.

Chamber President Dr. Tim Magner praised Sarpy for her leadership, advocacy, and dedication to equality. The awards program is sponsored by the Business Development Connection of the Greater Shreveport Chamber.
