The Cultural Festival is a celebration of diversity and community at VCU Health. Held on June 15th at the VCU Medical Center, the festival aims to deepen relationships with the various communities served by the health system. The event is family-friendly and open to all ages, featuring activities such as balloon art, face painting, live music, and performances.

The first 200 attendees will receive free food tickets to use at food trucks. The festival will begin with a presentation on the history of the health system, followed by free blood pressure and glucose screenings for attendees. Marcelle Davis, Vice President of Inclusive Excellence for VCU Health System, emphasizes the importance of educating the community about the organization’s history and providing health screenings while celebrating through cultural performances.

The festival recognizes Juneteenth, Caribbean American Heritage, and PRIDE as important events that highlight the diverse communities served by VCU Health. This event serves as an opportunity to continue the momentum from previous community events such as the MLK Community Walk and Celebration held in January. By hosting this festival, VCU Health hopes to demonstrate why they are an employer, healthcare provider, and educator of choice for those seeking quality care and support.

The Cultural Festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m on 12th Street between Broad and Marshall streets, across from the valet entrance of the VCU Medical Center Gateway building. Free parking will be available at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU’s pavilion parking deck with access for GRTC Pulse riders at the VCU Medical Center bus stop.
