IYRS School of Technology & Trades is preparing for its 27th annual IYRS Summer Gala on Saturday, July 13 at 6 p.m. at the IYRS campus. The event will feature musical guest Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue, making it a celebration of craftsmanship, innovation, and community spirit that defines IYRS.

Liz Isdale, the Director of Philanthropy at IYRS, highlighted the importance of the school’s work and the support of its donors. The gala reflects the core values of IYRS by empowering individuals with education, preserving traditional trades, and teaching modern manufacturing skills.

At IYRS, students learn various trades such as boatbuilding, marine systems, digital modeling & fabrication, and composites technology. Graduates go on to pursue careers in the marine industry or become entrepreneurs in industries like motorsport or aerospace. Recently, over 70 students graduated on June 1st and launched several sailboats and a surf rescue boat during their annual graduation ceremony and launch day.

With an average graduation rate of 85% and an 85% graduate placement rate, IYRS has established over 700 industry partnerships to support its students and graduates. The gala is an important event where supporters can contribute to the success of IYRS, student outcomes, and industry partnerships. This year’s event is particularly special for Liz Isdale who joined the team in March and is excited to be part of it in a new way. The night promises music, camaraderie, and a shared passion for craftsmanship with Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue headlining the event.
