The 2023-24 spring sports season has come to a close, leaving central Wisconsin athletes with both triumphs and challenges. Some teams experienced playoff success, sectional victories, and trips to state championships, while others faced tough games and personal growth. Regardless of the outcome, the memories created during this season will be cherished for a lifetime.

As we reflect on this season, let’s take a closer look at some photos from Wisconsin Rapids-area teams. The Port Edwards Blackhawks softball team competed against the Pacelli Cardinals on April 19 at Spud Field in Woyak Sports Complex, with the Cardinals emerging victorious with a 10-0 win. On May 3, the Assumption Royals softball team faced off against the Wausau Newman Cardinals at the Sunnyvale Park Softball Complex, securing a 12-6 victory.

In lacrosse, the Pacelli United team clashed with the Wausau Wild on May 9 at Madison Elementary School, with Wausau Wild prevailing with a strong 16-1 performance. Both teams feature players from various central Wisconsin communities, showcasing the competitive spirit of the region. The Wisconsin Valley Conference Track and Field Meet brought athletes from schools such as Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School, Marshfield High School, Wausau West High School, Stevens Point Area Senior High, D.C. Everest High School, Wausau East High School, and Merrill High School together to compete at Wausau West High School on May 14. Despite fierce competition
