The Women, Infants, and Children Nutrition Program (WIC) is celebrating its 50th anniversary on Wednesday, May 22 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., and the Chatham County Health Department is excited to invite the community to come and celebrate with them. The event will be held at the health department’s WIC Garden located at 1395 Eisenhower Dr. in Savannah, where families can enjoy a range of activities such as garden games and raffle prizes.

Katee Sykes, Public Health Educator at the Chatham County Health Department, highlighted the impact of WIC in providing families with better access to healthy food, education, and resources over the past 50 years. She expressed her enthusiasm for hosting this event in the WIC Garden and emphasized the commitment of her department to help the community thrive.

The event will feature various vendors offering free services such as nutritional education, food supplements, and referrals to health care providers for those who meet eligibility criteria. Some of the participating vendors include Live Oak Libraries, Healthy Savannah, Forsyth Farmers Market, and Safe Kids Savannah.
