June is coming to a close and the 2024 NBA Draft is just around the corner. The Cleveland Cavaliers currently hold the 20th overall pick in the first round, with the first day of the event happening in three days. Mock drafts have suggested that the team will focus on adding talent to both their frontcourt and backcourt.

In a recent CBS Sports mock draft, guard Johnny Furphy from the University of Kansas is projected to be the Cavaliers’ pick. Furphy, a 19-year-old guard, had an impressive freshman season with the Jayhawks, averaging 9.0 points, 4.9 rebounds, one assist, and 0.9 steals per game. He also led the team in three-pointers with 44, shooting 35.2% from beyond the arc.

Furphy’s talent was recognized as he was named All-Big 12 Honorable Mention and made the 2023-24 Big 12 All-Freshman Team. He also had a strong showing in the 2024 NCAA Tournament, averaging 12.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, two assists, and one steal per game. The Guard shot an impressive 33
