Martin Necas, a standout forward for the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2023-24 season, has been named to the Czechia roster for the 2024 IIHF World Championship. The tournament will take place in Prague from May 26th to June 1st.

Necas, who stands at 6’3″ and weighs 195 pounds, had an impressive campaign with Carolina, scoring a career-high of 53 points in 77 regular-season games and adding nine points during the playoffs. During the regular season, he ranked fourth on the team in goals and tied for third in points. Additionally, he was the second-leading goal scorer among Hurricanes players during the playoffs. Throughout his NHL career, Necas has recorded an impressive total of 243 points in just 362 games.

A native of Nove Mesto na Morave, Czechia, Necas has represented his country in various international tournaments including the 2018 IIHF World Championship and three IIHF World Junior Championships. He was also a part of the Czech team that won gold at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament. Necas was drafted by Carolina in first round of the 2017 NHL Draft and has become one of their top performers on ice today.
