Canopius Group has recently appointed Chris Getty as their new cyber and technology underwriter. He will report directly to Mike Shen, the head of cyber & technology in the London Market. Getty brings over nine years of experience in cyber insurance, having previously worked at Talbot Underwriting as the head of cyber and technology, leading underwriting teams in both London and New York.

This appointment is part of a series of new hires within the Canopius Cyber and Technology business. Earlier in the year, Sam Minshaw was appointed as cyber claims manager and Alex Fyfe joined as a cyber claims adjuster. In addition, Catherine Sims was appointed as a cyber claims adjuster in New York. These new hires are aimed at further strengthening Canopius’ presence in the cyber and technology market.

Mike Shen, head of cyber & technology, expressed his excitement about Getty joining the team, stating that he is a highly regarded underwriter and leader in the cyber market. Shen highlighted the importance of bringing in top talent to support their ambitious growth plans while maintaining exceptional standards for their broking partners. He believes that Getty is the perfect fit for Canopius and looks forward to working together to achieve their goals.

Getty started his career at Barlow Lyde & Gilbert LLP and is a qualified solicitor. He brings expertise in underwriting complex risks associated with emerging technologies such as blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, internet of things (IoT), and more. With his knowledge and skills, he will play an important role in driving innovation within Canopius’ Cyber & Technology business while ensuring that clients receive the best possible coverage for their needs.
