Canadian women’s rowing team has proven time and again that they are a force to be reckoned with. The eight-time Olympic champions recently won gold at the World Cup regatta in Lucerne, Switzerland, as part of their preparation for the upcoming Paris Games. Jessica Sevick, Caileigh Filmer, Maya Meschkuleit, Kasia Gruchalla-Wesierski, Kristen Siermachesky, Sydney Payne, Kristina Walker, Abigail Dent and coxswain Kristen Kit worked together to finish in a winning time of 6:04.47.

In addition to the women’s eight team, the women’s lightweight double of Jill Moffatt and Jennifer Casson also competed in Lucerne. While they did not make it to the podium, they finished fourth in their final with a time of 7:03.43. Great Britain took gold in this event, followed by New Zealand and the U.S. Both teams secured their spots at the Summer Games during last year’s world championship in Belgrade, Serbia.

The Canadian women’s eight rowing team and the women’s lightweight double are now preparing for the Paris Olympics and are focused on defending and earning medals once again. Their skills and determination have given Canadian fans hope for success at the upcoming Games.
