James Brophy, a talented midfielder, has recently signed a new two-year contract with Cambridge United. Over the past three seasons, the 29-year-old has amassed an impressive 153 appearances for the U’s and found the back of the net once during his time with the team.

Brophy played in all 46 league matches last season, helping Cambridge United secure an 18th place finish in League One, just four points clear of relegation. Expressing his excitement about the new deal, Brophy stated, “I am thrilled to be staying with the club and continuing my time here at Cambridge United.”

Reflecting on his positive experiences with the team so far, Brophy mentioned, “We have had some really great moments together and it has been a great fit.” He also expressed his enthusiasm for the vision that manager Garry Monk has set out for the team and noted his excitement about being a part of it.

Brophy originally started his professional career at Swindon Town before spending four years at Leyton Orient. During his time at Leyton Orient, he scored 11 goals in 149 games before making the move to Cambridge United in 2021. The signing of this contract is sure to strengthen Cambridge United’s squad and provide stability for their future successes in League One.
