Devin Cooley, a native of Los Gatos and former Sharks goaltender, has signed a two-year contract with the Calgary Flames. His contract for the 2024-25 season will be structured as a two-way deal ($775,000 NHL/$400,000 AHL), while his contract for the 2025-26 season will be a one-way deal ($775,000).

Cooley made his NHL debut with the Sharks during the 2023-24 season after Kaapo Kahkonen was traded to the New Jersey Devils. In his six appearances with the team, he posted a 2-3-1 record and earned his first NHL victory in overtime against the St. Louis Blues on April 6. Cooley became the first Bay Area native to play in net for the San Jose Sharks.

Following the announcement of his contract with the Flames, Cooley expressed his gratitude to the Sharks organization and fanbase, stating that he will continue to support the team as a fan. With Cooley’s departure, the Sharks will be searching for a new No. 3 goalie to join Mackenzie Blackwood and Vitek Vanecek as they move forward into the upcoming season.
