The US Women’s Basketball Team has announced that Caitlin Clark, the top rookie in the WNBA, will not be competing in this year’s Olympic games in Paris. Despite being invited to the national team’s training camp, Clark was ultimately left off the roster for the Olympics.

Reports indicate that Clark, a superstar player who recently signed a lucrative Nike deal worth $28 million over eight years, was not chosen to be part of the 12-player team headed to the Paris Olympics in July. The selection committee seemed to prefer players with more professional experience, leading to Clark’s exclusion from the team.

Although playing for the US Olympic 5×5 team was a dream and a goal for Clark, she has not publicly commented on her omission from the team. Despite being invited to attend the national team’s training camp in April, she was unable to attend due to conflicts with the NCAA tournament.

The decision to leave Clark off the Olympic team has raised questions among fans and experts in the basketball community. While veterans like Diana Taurasi and Sabrina Ionescu will be representing the US at the Olympics, Clark will not be among them. The reasons behind the selection committee’s decision remain unclear, and representatives for Clark and the US Women’s Basketball Team have not provided further details or comments on the matter.
