On Sunday morning, a fire broke out in the building that housed the Butler County Health Department and EMA office in Greenville, Alabama. Firefighters arrived at the scene on Airport Road at around 3:30 a.m. to find the building completely engulfed in flames. Despite their best efforts, they were unable to put out the fire and the building was ultimately deemed a total loss.

Fortunately, no one was inside the building at the time of the fire and there were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire remains unknown, with authorities ruling out arson as a potential cause.

In response to this incident, the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) is currently working to secure a temporary space to continue providing health services to residents of Butler County. Until then, residents are encouraged to contact either Crenshaw County Health Department or nearby locations for any health-related needs. All relevant information and operating hours for county health department locations can be found on ADPH’s website.
