On Sunday morning, a devastating fire broke out in Greenville, Alabama, destroying the building that housed the Butler County Health Department and EMA office. The incident took place on Airport Road at approximately 3:30 a.m., with the building fully engulfed in flames by the time emergency crews arrived on the scene. Despite their efforts to contain the fire, the building was ultimately declared a total loss.

Fortunately, no individuals were inside the building at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. The exact cause of the fire remains unknown, but authorities do not suspect arson as a contributing factor. In response to this unfortunate event, the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) staff is actively working to secure a temporary space to continue providing health services to the people of Butler County.

Until then, residents are encouraged to reach out to their local health department or other nearby locations for any necessary services. The ADPH website provides detailed contact information and operating hours for all county health department locations. As investigations into the fire continue, it’s crucial that everyone stays informed by visiting WDHN’s website for updates on news, weather reports, sports coverage, and streaming video content.
