Uptown Albuquerque business owner, Leticia Leyba, has announced that Groove Boutique will be closing its doors next month after a year of dealing with theft and attempted burglaries. Despite hiring private security and obtaining a concealed carry permit, Leyba has expressed frustration with local leadership and the lack of progress on crime in the area.

The business was targeted again as recently as last week, with damage left to the front door. Leyba expressed her disappointment in the situation, stating, “This is our community, and this sucks for me a lot. Because I didn’t think this was how this was gonna end. But it’s gonna be OK. Groove’s gonna still flourish no matter what.”

Leyba has decided to move her business online following the closure of the physical store. The last day to shop in-store will be on July 6th. Despite the challenges faced by Groove Boutique, Leyba remains optimistic about the future of the business.
