In his latest 2024 college football preview magazine, renowned analyst Phil Steele has named Colorado Buffaloes’ newcomer LaJohntay Wester to one of his preseason All-American teams. Wester, who transferred from Florida Atlantic, was recognized for his impressive punt return skills and named to the second-team special teams.

During his time with the Owls, Wester had an incredible 14 punt returns for 278 yards and one touchdown, ranking him fifth nationally. The 5-foot-11, 167-pound Florida native had a standout season in 2023, reaching over 1,000 receiving yards and leading FAU with 1,168 yards and eight touchdowns. He had six games with over 100 receiving yards, including a memorable 219-yard, three-touchdown performance against the University of Alabama-Birmingham.

Colorado’s two-way player Travis Hunter also made it onto Steele’s preseason All-American teams. Hunter was named first-team all-defensive for his cornerback skills and first-team special teams for his all-around abilities. Additionally, Hunter’s brother Jaylen also transferred to Colorado from FAU this offseason.
