Darvin Ham is set to return to the Milwaukee Bucks as an assistant coach under Doc Rivers, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Ham, who was recently released by the Los Angeles Lakers after a two-year stint as head coach, will be reuniting with the franchise where he previously served as an assistant coach from 2018 to 2022.

During his time with the Bucks, Ham and Budenholzer guided the team to an NBA championship in 2021. Prior to his coaching career, Ham also played for the Bucks as an NBA forward from 1999 to 2002.

After leaving the Lakers, Ham became a highly sought-after coaching candidate this spring before ultimately deciding to return to Milwaukee. With Rivers at the helm, the Bucks are determined to make another title run and follow their recent playoff exit at the hands of the Indiana Pacers.

Ham’s tenure with the Lakers was marked by challenges, but he managed to lead them to a deeper postseason run in 2023, reaching the conference finals. However, a loss to eventual champions Denver Nuggets ended their playoff hopes. Now back with his former teammates on Milwaukee, Ham will be looking forward to contributing towards their quest for another championship under Rivers’ leadership.
