On Thursday, the Buccaneers made an announcement that they had signed former Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard. However, before officially confirming Shepard’s addition to the team, the Buccaneers revealed that they had signed Cody Thompson to their 90-man roster.

Thompson had previously spent a brief time with the Seahawks and made one catch for 10 yards in seven games last season. He also contributed on special teams with two tackles and played in five games in 2021, recording one tackle. Unfortunately, Thompson spent the entire 2022 season on injured reserve.

With Thompson now on board, the Buccaneers have increased their roster count to include 12 wide receivers. If Shepard joins the team, he will become the 13th receiver unless another wideout is released in a corresponding move. The Buccaneers seem to be making moves to strengthen their receiving corps and add depth to their roster.
