Auriia Perez, the owner of Perez Beauty Labs, expressed her excitement and gratitude at being included in the Brooklyn Made Store’s second location. She believes that being featured in the store is already a success for her and sees it as a way to encourage and inspire others in her community. Perez creates a line of lip gloss products and believes that representation is especially important for young Black girls who may see her success as something to aspire to.

The Brooklyn Made Store organized a block party on a Friday evening to celebrate their new location and show support for the local businesses that supply their products. Gabrielle Napolitano, the Communications and Partnerships Director for Brooklyn Made Stores, emphasized that the store serves as a platform for small makers, artisans, and entrepreneurs who may not have the resources to build their own brand quickly. The store’s commitment to promoting local businesses reflects the diversity of Brooklyn and encourages community members to shop locally. Supporting Black and minority-owned businesses is especially critical in the current economic climate, and events like the block party help provide much-needed support to these entrepreneurs.
