A British Columbia, Canada chicken named Lacy has set a new Guinness World Record by correctly identifying six letters, numbers, and colors in just one minute. The chicken was trained by veterinarian Emily Carrington, who also bought five other chickens last year for egg production.

Carrington started training the hens to identify magnetic letters and numbers, with their task being to peck only the specific letter or number instructed. Each chicken attempted to set a record for the most tricks by a chicken in one minute. However, it was Lacy who stood out from the rest and correctly identified 6 different letters, numbers, and colors in a minute.

Emily Carrington, who documents her chicken training on her YouTube channel “The Thinking Chicken,” expressed her happiness at Lacy’s recognition through the new record category. She believes that chickens are often underestimated in terms of their intelligence and hopes that Lacy’s achievement can shed light on the cognitive abilities of these animals.
