In the Tulsa metro area, Grand Mental Health is working to raise awareness about the importance of mental health in communities across Green Country. Leaders are using data to identify areas where people need additional resources and support, with a particular focus on east and north Tulsa.
In partnership with community organizations and residents, Grand Mental Health aims to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, and more serious conditions that may require specialized treatment. This initiative addresses a significant need highlighted by the impact of the pandemic, as leaders like Ron Brady have emphasized.
Brady pointed out the substantial gap that exists between the number of individuals in need of mental health services and those who are currently able to access them. In Tulsa County alone, there is an 89 percent disparity between demand and availability of services. This gap underscores the critical importance of Grand Mental Health’s efforts to provide support and resources to those who require mental health assistance.
Grand Mental Health has reported a 138 percent increase in the number of clients served from January to April, demonstrating the growing demand for mental health services in the Tulsa area. The agency’s commitment to addressing this need and enhancing mental health care underscores their dedication to the well-being of individuals in the community.
