In Bridgeport, the 15th annual World’s Largest Swim Lesson took place at the Bridge Sports Complex, with lifeguards and instructors from around the world gathering to provide swimming techniques and lessons aimed at potentially saving lives. The event is part of a global drowning prevention initiative launched by the World Waterpark Association in 2010, which emphasizes the importance of discussing, teaching, and learning water safety for all ages.

Bridge Aquatics Manager Breanna Kniceley highlighted the significance of starting swim lessons as early as possible, regardless of age. She mentioned that adult lessons are also available. The Bridge Sports Complex offers swimming lessons year-round and interested individuals can text “SWIM LESSONS” to 833-262-7722 to receive updates on lesson registrations. With two pools available, including a warm pool suitable for beginners, the complex offers membership pricing for those who are unable to sign up for lessons. Kniceley encouraged families to visit the complex with their children as day passes and memberships are available.

The staff at the Bridge Sports Complex also emphasized that it holds five Guinness World Records for the largest concurrent swimming lesson conducted at multiple venues. The current official record was set in 2014 with over 36,000 participants across 22 countries. Overall, this event aims to raise awareness about water safety and promote healthy habits among people of all ages.
