Since its inception in 2004, the award has been presented every two years, with this year’s winners recognized for their projects that embody aesthetics, innovation, and sustainability.
The International Rugby Experience in Ireland stands out for its use of brick both inside and out, creating a cohesive design that highlights the versatility of this timeless building material. In Argentina, the Apartment building M 5605 showcases grey bricks in stretcher and hole bond patterns, demonstrating the enduring appeal of brick in contemporary design. A Public Pavilion in Spain features geometric structures made of thermal bricks, while an Intermediate House in Paraguay is centered around a courtyard with high exposed brick walls. Lastly, the Electricity Supply Board Headquarters in Ireland utilizes slender buildings and planted courtyards for a pleasant microclimate and daylight.
