In Chico, California, a community event was held by Butte County Behavioral Health and Compassion Pathway Behavioral Health to raise awareness and break the stigma surrounding mental health. The event took place in observance of Mental Health Awareness Month and was attended by representatives from Chico Police and Fire.
The importance of seeking available resources for mental health support was emphasized by mental health experts at the event. Dr. Ifeanyi Ezeani of Compassion Pathway Behavioral Health highlighted the significance of educating the community about mental health to enhance support for those struggling with mental illness.
Butte County Behavioral Health director Scott Kennelly was present at the event and stressed that those interested in accessing mental health care or scheduling a screening can contact the county access line at (530) 891-2810. This number also serves as a crisis line for those in immediate need of assistance. The event aimed to promote awareness, provide information, and foster a supportive community environment for mental health issues.
