The city of Kyle in Texas recently made an attempt to break the world record for the largest gathering of people with one name. Despite having 706 Kyles turn up at a park in the suburbs of Austin, they fell short of the current record held by a town in Bosnia with 2,325 people named Ivan in 2017.
CBS Weekend News reported on this event, which was not the first time the Kyles tried to break the record. Last year, they counted 1,490 people at the Gathering of the Kyles. However, despite their efforts, they were unable to achieve their goal.
The name Kyle is not as popular in the U.S., ranking 416th among male names in 2023 according to the Social Security Administration. In comparison, Ivan ranked 153rd. This shows that Kyle is not as well-known or common as other names like Ivan.
